"[The TelefériQo] is one of the highest aerial lifts in the world, rising from 2950 meters to 4100 meters. The ascent takes 40 minutes, travelling some 2500 linear meters. The TelefériQo opened in July 2005 and has become one of Quito's most popular tourist attractions. At the summit there are a number of restaurants, coffee shops and a variety of tourist stores. There are also trails for hiking and points where pictures can be taken of Quito. Due to the increased altitude and the wind on the mountain it is considerably cooler than the city and is also susceptible to fog, especially in the mornings. The visitor centre at the base includes the Vulqano Park amusement park, restaurants & food court, and other attractions."
